When running SFC scannow, with the right XP SP3 CD in the CD-ROM drive, a window appears repeatly saying” Files that are required for windows to run properly must be copied tp the DLL Cache. Retry, More Information, Cancel”. Answering “Retry” makes drive light to twickle and the progress bar to go up a little until this window strikes again.
I am trying to verify that all protected Windows files are intact and in their original versions using the 'sfc /scannow' command. I originally installed Windows XP SP1 (Slipstreamed) from the CD-ROM which was at the moment the F drive, now I have changed the drive letter to Y. My problem is that a message box appears asking me: 'Insert the Windows XP Professional Service Pack 1 CD because files that are required for Windows to run properly must be copied to the DLL Cache.' I am not given the choice to point to where the Windows XP Professional Service Pack 1 CD is My questions are: 1-How can I point Windows use not the installation source but a new one, like a HDD folder or the same CD-ROM with new denomination? 2-The message box means that the protected files are not in their original versions or just that the original versions are not found and so the check cannot be done?
